“Empower your identity”

Puebla, Mexico

For this exercise we have a client who works with Notary Services, and pretends to build a single product that works as a meeting scheduler.  The purpose of the mobile-friendly page is to provide a payed meeting considering the user and the notary officer, which at the end of the meeting would deliver a legal paper to the user.

How can I help them guarantee scheduling and payment while keeping a friendly, easy to understand mobile web page?

MY ROLE

Lead and solo design - User research, design and prototyping.

Background & Research

When I saw this task I instantly thought of Doctoralia. A service to schedule doctor appointments.

On the other hand, I selected two main sources of information to understand the process and user requirements for changing your name: NewlyNamed and EZNameChange.

Building an Identity

Since this is an exercise, I decided to create a Company Identity.

This included creating a name, logo, a color scheme based on the logo as well as picking a typography.

I chose a serif typography to add different weights and highlights while the sans serif will help me with large texts.

Components & Illustrations

I decided to design cards to build trust.

For the choosing the Notary Officer process I decided to use ranking systems, pictures and a call for action button. I also modified this cards for reviews, showing the opinions, pictures and relevant information for the costumers.

Finally, I wanted to have an on-brand experience therefore I made two small illustrations to be used on the thank you pages.

Designing Screens and Flows

For this exercise I created screens for the following processes:

  • Main Page.

  • FAQ.

  • Collecting User Data.

  • Scheduling Process.

  • Payment and Billing.

  • Thank you page.

  • Foot section.

Each screen is adaptated as a mobile friendly web page.

Final thoughts

This was a very enticing exercise and a challenge overall. I am very satisfied with the end result, however I want to share my learning journey.

First, I am amazed by how much I have developed my UX/UI skills and how I have developed an structured path to design by now. I am also thankful of how my coding skills have helped me to simplify the design thinking always about the people doing the heavy lift for a web page to work.

However, the hard part of this exercise is how easy is to get lost in inspiration and how it can affect your product. Since I was using resources such as NewlyNamed. I discovered myself replicating a design and I ended up designing two other screens “Packages“ that made no sense for what I had in mind.

I’ll be sure to have this in mind from now on. And I believe that by doing a more careful wireframing I will be able to pinpoint this type of mistake, rectify and in the end, avoiding it.

Thanks for reading :)
